Sahil Salathia is an Indian actor and model known for his work across television, Bollywood films, and OTT platforms. He first gained prominence after representing India at the Mr. Asia 2012 pageant, where he finished among the top five contestants. Over the years, Salathia has built a steady acting career, balancing commercial visibility with performance-driven roles. In 2025, he appeared as a contestant on the reality series The Traitors India.

Early life and education

Sahil Salathia was born on 13 April 1990 in Jammu, India, into a Dogra family. He spent his early years in Jammu, where he developed a strong cultural grounding. Academically inclined, he pursued engineering at Punjab University, Chandigarh, and briefly worked as a software engineer before transitioning into modeling and acting.[1]

Modeling career

Before entering acting, Salathia established himself as a successful model. He represented India at the Mr. Asia 2012 competition in Hong Kong, finishing in the top five among participants from more than 30 countries. Following this achievement, he appeared in numerous advertising campaigns for national and international brands, including Idea Cellular, Tata Indicom, Kingfisher, Mercedes-Benz, and Big Bazaar.[2]

His modeling work also featured in leading publications such as Maxim, GQ, Hello, Men’s Health India, and India Today. By the time he moved into acting, he had already appeared in over 20 television commercials in India and abroad.[3]

Acting career

Television debut

Sahil Salathia made his acting debut in 2014 with Ashutosh Gowariker’s television series Everest, in which he portrayed Arjun Sabharwal, a professional mountaineer. His performance was widely appreciated and earned him the Best Fresh Face Award at the Lion Gold Awards. The series also gained attention for its soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman.[4]

Films

He made his Bollywood film debut with Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical drama Panipat (2019), playing the role of Shamsher Bahadur. The film provided him the opportunity to work in a large-scale period production alongside established actors.

Web series and OTT platforms

Salathia expanded his presence in digital entertainment through several web series. In P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke (2016), he played Yusuf Wali Muazzam, a negative character that showcased his range beyond lead roles. His later OTT projects include Hasmukh (2020), Paurashpur (2020), Kaun Banegi Shikharwati (2021), Adhura (2023), and Honeymoon Photographer (2024), where he portrayed varied characters across genres.
