Praniti Sushilkumar Shinde (born 9 December 1980) is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. She is a Member of Parliament representing the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency and is a member of the Indian National Congress.

She previously served as a three-time Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Solapur City Central constituency. She has also been serving as the Working President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee since 2021.[1]

Early life and education

Praniti Shinde was born to Ujwala Shinde and Sushilkumar Shinde, a former Home Minister of India.

She completed her schooling at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. She graduated from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and later earned a law degree from Government Law College, Mumbai.

Alongside her political career, she is involved in social work through her NGO, JaiJui.[2]

Political career

Legislative Assembly

Praniti Shinde began her political career in Maharashtra and was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Solapur City Central constituency. She served three terms and established her presence in state politics.[3]

Party roles

She was appointed as the Working President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee in 2021. She has also served as a member of the screening committee of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee for assembly elections.

Lok Sabha

In the 2024 general elections, Praniti Shinde was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency on a Congress ticket. The constituency is reserved.[4]

Personal life

Praniti Shinde comes from a political family. Her father, Sushilkumar Shinde, has held several important positions in Indian politics.

She actively participates in social initiatives and public service activities.
