Neha Kakkar (born 6 June 1988) is an Indian singer known for her work in Bollywood music. She gained popularity through party and dance songs and became one of the most recognized playback singers in India. She has also appeared as a judge on the reality show Indian Idol.[1]

Early life

Neha Kakkar was born in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. She is the younger sister of singers Tony Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar.

Her family later moved to Delhi, where she started singing at religious events at a young age. At the age of four, she began performing publicly. In 2004, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in music.[2]

Career

2005–2012: Beginning and breakthrough

Kakkar first appeared in Indian Idol Season 2 in 2005 but was eliminated early.

She released her debut album Neha The Rockstar in 2008. Her breakthrough came in 2012 with the song Second Hand Jawaani from the film Cocktail, which became widely popular.[3]

2013–2016: Rise to fame

Between 2013 and 2016, Kakkar delivered several hit songs: - Sunny Sunny from Yaariyan - London Thumakda from Queen - Kala Chashma from Baar Baar Dekho

Her song Mile Ho Tum from Fever became one of the most-viewed Bollywood songs on YouTube.

During this period, she became known for high-energy party songs and wedding tracks.

2017–present: Continued success

From 2017 onward, Kakkar collaborated with music composer Tanishk Bagchi and became associated with recreated versions of classic songs.
