Lara Dutta (born 16 April 1978) is an Indian actress, model, and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2000. She is the second woman from India to win the Miss Universe title and has established herself as a successful actress in Hindi cinema.

Lara Dutta was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Her father, Wing Commander L.K. Dutta, served in the Indian Air Force, and her mother, Jennifer Dutta, was associated with broadcasting and music.[1]

She moved to Bangalore in her early years, where she completed her schooling at St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School. She later graduated in economics with a minor in communications.

She comes from a well-educated family and has two sisters. Her cousin is noted composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney.
