Harshvardhan Rane
Harshvardhan Rane (born 16 December 1983) is an Indian actor who works primarily in Hindi and Telugu films. He made his film debut with the Telugu film Thakita Thakita (2010) and entered Hindi cinema with Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), earning a Stardust Award nomination for Superstar of Tomorrow – Male.[1]
Early life
Harshvardhan Rane was born in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, to a Telugu mother and a Marathi father. His father, Vivek Rane, worked as a doctor in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
He was raised in Gwalior and later moved to Delhi at the age of 16. After that, he settled in Mumbai to pursue a career in acting.[2]
Career
2007–2015: Debut and early work
Rane started his acting career with the television series Left Right Left (2007–2008), where he played Cadet Rummy Gaur.
He made his film debut with the Telugu film Thakita Thakita (2010). He later appeared in films such as Naa Ishtam (2012), Avunu (2012), and Prema Ishq Kaadhal (2013), gaining recognition in Telugu cinema.
In 2014, he appeared in multiple films including Anaamika, Maaya, and Geethanjali. He also appeared in Avunu 2 (2015) and had a cameo in Bengal Tiger.[3]
2016–2023: Hindi debut and recognition
Rane made his Hindi film debut with Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), where he played Inder, a complex character that received positive reviews.
He later appeared in Paltan (2018) as Major Harbhajan Singh and in Kavacham (2018).
In 2020, he portrayed a gangster in Taish, which released both as a film and a web series. His performance was widely appreciated.
He gained further recognition with Haseen Dillruba (2021), where he played Neel Tripathi. He also appeared in Tara vs Bilal (2022).[4]
2024–present: Career expansion
In 2024, Rane appeared in films like Dange, Savi, and The Miranda Brothers.
In 2025, he starred in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, where he played a politician. The film became a sleeper hit and marked a major success in his career.
He continues to expand his work across different genres and roles.
Personal life
Harshvardhan Rane is fluent in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Marathi.
He was in a relationship with actress Kim Sharma from 2018 to 2019.
In 2022, he purchased a campervan, becoming one of the first Indian actors to adopt a mobile lifestyle focused on travel and nature.
Other work and public image
Rane is known for his calm and grounded personality. He has been featured multiple times in lists such as The Times Most Desirable Men.
He is also involved in charity work through his ShirtOff Foundation, where he sells personal items to support the education of underprivileged children.
In 2021, he sold his bike to raise funds for oxygen concentrators during the COVID-19 crisis.
