Darshan Raval
Darshan Raval (born 18 October 1994) is an Indian singer, composer, and songwriter. He is known for his work in Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali music. He gained fame after finishing as the runner-up in the reality show India's Raw Star in 2014.[1]
Early life
Darshan Raval was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, into a Gujarati Hindu family. His father, Rajendra Raval, is a freelance writer, and his mother, Rajal Raval, was a homemaker.
He was expelled from college due to poor academic performance. Despite this, he focused on music and built his career in the industry.[2]
Career
2014: Breakthrough
Raval began his career by participating in India's Raw Star, mentored by Yo Yo Honey Singh. He finished as the first runner-up and gained public attention.
He has credited Himesh Reshammiya for supporting him during his early career in Bollywood.
2015–2019: Rising popularity
Raval started singing for Bollywood films and independent projects. He gained recognition with songs like Kheech Meri Photo from Sanam Teri Kasam.[3]
His song Chogada from Loveyatri became a major hit. He also sang Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and appeared in several film soundtracks.
During this period, he worked in multiple languages and expanded his presence in Indian music.
2020–present
Raval continued releasing songs across Hindi, Gujarati, and other languages. His song Kabhi Tumhe from Shershaah became widely popular.[4]
He also released many independent singles such as Tera Zikr, Asal Mein, and Ek Tarfa. His music blends romantic themes with modern pop sounds.
Personal life
Darshan Raval married his longtime girlfriend and best friend Dharal Surelia on 18 January 2025. She is an architect and founder of Butter Concepts.
Media
Raval was ranked number 45 in The Times Most Desirable Men list in 2017. He has also won awards such as the Transmedia Gujarati Screen and Stage Award for Best Male Singer.
