Ashneer Grover (born June 14, 1982) is an Indian entrepreneur and businessman, best known as the co-founder and former Managing Director of BharatPe, a fintech company. He gained widespread recognition as a judge on the first season of Shark Tank India.[1][2][3]
Early Life and Education
Ashneer Grover was born in Delhi, India, to a middle-class family. His father was a Chartered Accountant and his mother was a teacher. He completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and later earned an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.[4]

Grover's career spans various roles in finance and entrepreneurship:
- Vice President at Kotak Investment Banking (2006-2013)
- Director of Corporate Development at American Express (2013-2015)
- Chief Financial Officer at Grofers (now Blinkit) (2015-2017)
- Head of New Business at PC Jeweller Ltd (2017-2018)
- Co-founder and Managing Director of BharatPe (2018-2022)
BharatPe
In 2018, Grover co-founded BharatPe with Shashvat Nakrani. The company revolutionized digital payments for merchants in India by offering a single QR code for all payment apps. Under Grover's leadership, BharatPe became a unicorn startup in 2021, valued at $2.85 billion.
Shark Tank India
Grover was one of the seven judges (known as "sharks") on the first season of Shark Tank India in 2021. His straightforward and often blunt approach made him a popular figure on the show.[5]
Controversies and Exit from BharatPe
In 2022, Grover faced allegations of financial mismanagement at BharatPe, leading to his resignation from the company. He has denied these allegations. In September 2024, Grover and BharatPe reached a settlement, ending their legal disputes. As part of the agreement, Grover will no longer be associated with BharatPe in any capacity.
New Ventures
In 2024, Grover ventured into a new fintech startup called ZeroPe, focusing on medical loans. The app is designed to provide instant pre-approved medical loans of up to Rs 500,000 in collaboration with Delhi-based NBFC Mukut Finvest.[6]
Personal Life
Ashneer Grover is married to Madhuri Jain Grover, and they have two children. He is known for his interests in cricket and tennis.
