Aditya Suhas Jhambale
Aditya Suhas Jambhale (born 12 October 1991) is an Indian film director, writer, and actor from Goa. He is a two-time National Film Award winner, best known for his short films Aaba Aiktaay Naa? and Kharvas. He is also active in Marathi theatre and Hindi cinema, with works spanning short films, theatre productions, and feature films.
Early Life and Education
Aditya Suhas Jambhale was born and raised in Goa. He completed his schooling in Goa and later pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics. Despite his technical background, he developed a strong inclination towards storytelling, theatre, and cinema during his college years.[1]
Career
Short Films and National Recognition
After completing his engineering studies, Jambhale founded a film production company named Shree Mahalasa Productions, along with a graphic design firm called Logocrazze. His directorial debut came with the short film Aaba Aiktaay Naa?, which won the National Film Award for Best Direction at the 64th National Film Awards in 2016.
He followed this success with his second short film Kharvas, which received the National Film Award for Best Short Film in 2019. The film was also selected as the opening film for the Indian Panorama (Non-Feature) section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 2018.[2]
Theatre Work
Over the past decade, Aditya Suhas Jambhale has been deeply involved in Marathi theatre as a writer and director. He has received multiple state-level honours for plays such as Final Verdict, Are Manasa Manasa, and Nat-SMRT. His large-scale theatrical production Vande Mataram earned him recognition as one of the youngest writers in India to helm a major dramatic work.[3]
Feature Films
Jambhale later transitioned into Hindi cinema with films such as Amritsar Junction, a national integration film examining the social and political conflicts surrounding the Partition of India in 1947. He gained wider mainstream recognition with Article 370, which further established him as a filmmaker known for politically and socially relevant narratives.
