He first gained fame as a member of the boy band One Direction, formed during the British television show The X Factor in 2010. The group became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.[1]
He left One Direction in March 2015 to pursue a solo career and signed with RCA Records. His debut album Mind of Mine (2016) and its lead single "Pillowtalk" both debuted at number one in the UK and the United States, making him the first British male artist to achieve this feat.[2]
