Janki Bodiwala (born 30 October 1995) is an Indian actress and model who works primarily in Gujarati cinema. She gained widespread recognition for her performances in films such as Chhello Divas, Naadi Dosh, and the psychological thriller Vash. She made her Hindi film debut in 2024 with Shaitaan, the Bollywood remake of Vash.

Early Life and Education

Janki Bodiwala was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, into a middle-class Gujarati family. Her father, Bharat Bodiwala, is a businessman, and her mother, Kashmira Bodiwala, is a homemaker. She has a younger brother named Dhrupad Bodiwala. Janki completed her schooling at M.K. Secondary & Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad and later pursued a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the Goenka Research Institute of Dental Science, Gandhinagar.[1]

Despite her academic background in dentistry, she chose to follow her passion for acting and entered the entertainment industry.[2]

Career

Modelling and Pageantry

Before entering films, Janki participated in modelling and beauty pageants. In 2019, she was among the top three finalists representing Gujarat in the Femina Miss India competition, which helped her gain wider visibility.[3]

Gujarati Cinema Debut and Rise (2015–2022)

Janki made her acting debut with the Gujarati film Chhello Divas (2015), written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik. The film became a major commercial success and established her as a promising new talent. She went on to appear in films such as O! Taareee, Tamburo, Chhutti Jashe Chhakka, Tari Maate Once More, and Bau Na Vichaar.

In 2022, she starred in Naadi Dosh, which further strengthened her position in Gujarati cinema.[4]

Breakthrough with Vash and Bollywood Debut (2023–present)

Her career-defining performance came with the psychological thriller Vash (2023), which emerged as a blockbuster. The success of the film led to its Hindi remake Shaitaan (2024), directed by Vikas Bahl, in which Janki reprised her role as Aarya, renamed Jahnvi Rishi. The film marked her Bollywood debut alongside Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyothika.[5]

In 2025, Janki received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Vash, becoming one of the few Gujarati actresses to achieve this distinction.

Personal Life

Janki Bodiwala prefers to keep her personal life private. She is unmarried and currently focused on her acting career. There have been unconfirmed rumours linking her to actor Yash Soni. Outside of acting, she enjoys yoga, travelling, fitness activities, and reading.
