Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972), also known by his ring name "The Rock", is an American actor, professional wrestler, and businessman. Widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, he became a global icon during WWE's Attitude Era. Johnson later transitioned into acting, becoming one of the highest-grossing actors in Hollywood, with his films earning over $11.4 billion worldwide.[2]
Early Life and Education
Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward, California, to professional wrestler Rocky Johnson and Ata Maivia. He comes from a wrestling family, including his maternal grandfather Peter Maivia.
Johnson spent part of his childhood in New Zealand before returning to the United States. He attended multiple schools and eventually graduated from Freedom High School in Pennsylvania in 1990.
He later received a football scholarship to the University of Miami, where he played as a defensive tackle and was part of the 1991 national championship team.
Professional Wrestling Career
Johnson began his wrestling career in 1996 in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Initially performing as Rocky Maivia, he later adopted the persona "The Rock", becoming famous for his charisma and mic skills.
