Armaan Malik
Armaan Malik (born 22 July 1995) is an Indian playback singer, songwriter, voice actor, and actor. He started his career as a child singer in Bollywood and later became a leading voice in Indian and global pop music.
He gained early recognition with the song Bum Bum Bole from Taare Zameen Par (2007). Over time, he built a strong career in playback singing and independent music. He has also released English-language songs and worked with international labels.[1]
Early life
Armaan Malik was born in Mumbai, India, to music director Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik. He has an older brother, Amaal Malik, who is also a composer and singer.
He studied at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai. From a young age, he trained in music and showed strong interest in singing.[2]
Career
2006–2010: Early career
Malik began his career by participating in the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in 2006, where he finished eighth.
He made his debut as a child singer in 2007 with Bum Bum Bole. In 2010, he worked as a voice actor in My Name Is Khan and also voiced a character in a radio adaptation of Slumdog Millionaire.[3]
2014–2019: Playback success
In 2014, Malik made his playback debut with Tumko Toh Aana Hi Tha from Jai Ho. He also sang songs like Naina and Auliya and released his debut album Armaan.
In 2015, he delivered popular songs such as Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon, Tumhe Apna Banane Ka, and Wajah Tum Ho. He won the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent.
Between 2016 and 2018, he sang for several films including Sanam Re, Kapoor & Sons, Baaghi, and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. His songs like Sab Tera and Sau Asmaan gained wide popularity.
In 2019, he continued success with songs like Chale Aana and Dil Me Ho Tum. He also voiced the lead character in the Hindi version of Aladdin.
2020–present: Global expansion
In 2020, Malik signed with Arista Records and released his first English single Control. The song won Best Indian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
He became the first Indian artist to reach number one twice on the Triller Global Billboard charts. He later released How Many and continued expanding globally.
In 2022, he released the English single You, which also won Best Indian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. He continued playback singing for films and released independent Hindi tracks.[4]
Personal life
Armaan Malik got engaged to Aashna Shroff in August 2023. The couple married on 28 December 2024 in Mahabaleshwar.
