Early Life

Indra Nooyi was born in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. She was raised in a middle-class family where her father worked at a bank and her mother managed the household. Her upbringing emphasized discipline, leadership thinking, and education.

She completed her schooling at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai.

Education

Nooyi earned a bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, and mathematics from Madras Christian College in 1975. She then completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1976.

PepsiCo

Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994 and held several senior leadership roles before becoming CEO in 2006. She was the fifth CEO in the company’s history.
