Chum Darang (born 16 October 1991) is an Indian model, actress and entrepreneur from Arunachal Pradesh. She gained national recognition after winning the title of Miss Earth India Water 2016 and later expanded her career into acting and business. She is also known for her appearance in the Hindi film Badhaai Do (2022).

Early Life and Education

Chum Darang was born in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, into a supportive family. Her parents, Tajeep Darang and Yamik Dulom Darang, encouraged her to pursue her ambitions from a young age. She is the second child in the family and has siblings including Kennong Darang and Minam Darang.

She completed her schooling in Pasighat and later attended Jawaharlal Nehru College in her hometown, where she earned a diploma.

Pageant Career

Chum began her journey in beauty pageants in 2010 when she won the Miss AAPSU (All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union) title. She went on to become a finalist in North East Diva 2014 and secured the second runner-up position at Miss Himalaya 2015.

Her major breakthrough came in 2016 when she won the title of Miss Earth India Water. In 2017, she won Miss Tiara India International and represented India at Miss Asia World 2017, where she finished in the top five and won the Miss Internet title.

Acting Career

Chum Darang made her acting debut with a small role in the Amazon Prime series Paatal Lok (2020). She entered mainstream cinema with the Hindi film Badhaai Do (2022), where she portrayed the character of Chenakki (also known as Rimjhim Jongkey in some sources).

She later appeared in other film projects, including a role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, which further expanded her visibility in the Hindi film industry.

In 2024, reports suggested her participation in the Hindi reality television show Bigg Boss 18, bringing her into the national spotlight once again.

Apart from modeling and acting, Chum Darang is also an entrepreneur. She owns a café named Cafe Chu in Pasighat, which reflects local culture and cuisine.
