Early Life and Background

Aamir Khan was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a family deeply connected to Indian cinema. His father, Tahir Hussain, was a film producer, while his paternal uncle, Nasir Hussain, was a prominent filmmaker. He is also related to filmmaker Mansoor Khan and actor Imran Khan.[1]

He completed his early education at J.B. Petit School and St. Anne’s High School before studying at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. He later attended Narsee Monjee College, Mumbai. During his youth, Khan was also a state-level tennis champion in Maharashtra.[2]

Aamir Khan first appeared on screen as a child actor in Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). He later worked as an assistant director on Manzil Manzil (1984) and Zabardast (1985). In 2001, Khan starred in and produced Lagaan, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. The same year, he appeared in Dil Chahta Hai, a film credited with redefining urban Hindi cinema.
