Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (born 27 March 2011) is an Indian cricketer and one of the youngest emerging talents in international cricket. He gained worldwide attention after scoring 101 runs off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket history at the age of 14. He is also the youngest player to sign an IPL contract and the youngest Indian to play List A cricket.

Early life and education

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was born in Tajpur village of Samastipur district, Bihar. His father, Sanjiv Sooryavanshi, recognised his talent at an early age and actively supported his cricketing journey. Vaibhav began playing cricket at the age of four and later trained at the GenNex Cricket Academy in Patna. Despite his rigorous training schedule, he continues his formal schooling alongside his cricket career.[1]

Career

Youth and international career

Sooryavanshi represented Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (Under-19) at the age of 12. In 2023, he played for India B Under-19 and scored 177 runs, including two half-centuries. In September 2024, he scored 104 runs on his Under-19 Test debut against Australia Under-19s, registering the fastest century by an Indian Under-19 player and the second-fastest overall in Under-19 international cricket.[2][3]

During the 2024 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, he scored 76 runs against UAE Under-19s and 67 runs in the semi-final against Sri Lanka Under-19s. In November 2025, he scored 144 runs off 42 balls for India A against the United Arab Emirates, reaching his century in just 32 balls.

Domestic career

In January 2024, Sooryavanshi made his first-class debut for Bihar at the age of 12 years and 284 days, becoming the youngest player of the modern era to do so. He made his T20 debut in November 2024 and later became the youngest Indian to play List A cricket in December 2024.[4]

Franchise career

In November 2024, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was signed by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore, making him the youngest player to receive an IPL contract. He made his IPL debut on 19 April 2025. On 28 April 2025, he scored 101 runs off 38 balls, becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history and the fastest Indian to score an IPL century.[5]

Sooryavanshi is noted for multiple record-breaking performances across youth, domestic, and franchise cricket. His IPL century at the age of 14 remains one of the most talked-about achievements in modern cricket.
