Prasidh Krishna
Muralikrishna Prasidh Krishna (born 19 February 1996) is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a fast bowler. Known for his height, pace, and ability to generate steep bounce, he represents the Indian national cricket team and plays for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Prasidh Krishna is regarded as one of India's promising fast bowlers and has gained recognition for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, the IPL, and international matches.
Early Life
Prasidh Krishna was born in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He grew up in a sports-oriented family, and his father, Murali Krishna, played club cricket.[1]
He completed his schooling at Carmel School in Bengaluru and later pursued higher education at Jain University.[2]
From a young age, Prasidh displayed strong athletic ability and height, which helped him develop his fast bowling skills. His dedication and disciplined training helped him quickly establish himself in Bengaluru’s competitive cricket circles.
Domestic Career
Prasidh Krishna made his List A debut for Karnataka against Bangladesh A in 2016. In his debut match, he delivered an impressive performance by taking 5 wickets for 49 runs.[3]
His strong performances in domestic cricket helped him become a key bowler for Karnataka in tournaments such as:
- Ranji Trophy
- Vijay Hazare Trophy
- Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
During the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he emerged as one of the leading wicket-takers and played an important role in Karnataka winning the tournament.
In the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, he achieved a significant milestone by taking a ten-wicket haul in a match against Jammu and Kashmir.[4]
International Career
Prasidh Krishna made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India on 23 March 2021 against England.
He made an immediate impact by taking 4 wickets for 54 runs, which became the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler on ODI debut.
Later, he made his Test debut for India against the West Indies in July 2023.
His ability to bowl at high pace and generate bounce has made him a valuable addition to India’s fast-bowling attack.[5]
Indian Premier League
Prasidh Krishna began his IPL career in 2018 when he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders.
He quickly became an important part of their bowling unit due to his speed and wicket-taking ability.
In the 2022 IPL mega auction, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹10 crore and continued to deliver strong performances.
Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, he was signed by Gujarat Titans for approximately ₹9.5 crore.
