Early Life and Education

Madhubanti Bagchi was born in Balurghat, West Bengal, India. Her father, Subrata Bagchi, is a professor, and her mother, Srabani Bagchi, is a businesswoman.[1]

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. She later completed her master’s degree in Laser and Optical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.[2]

She was introduced to music by her father and received her initial training under his guidance. In her early school years, she began formal training in Hindustani classical music under Agra Gharana exponent Shrimati Subhra Guha. She also received training from thumri singer Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury.

Musical Career

Madhubanti performs as a playback singer in Bollywood and other Indian film industries. She has collaborated with composers such as Pritam, Amit Trivedi, Sachin-Jigar, Debojyoti Mishra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shekhar Ravjiani and Shantanu Moitra.[3]
