Rhea Chakraborty was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, in a Bengali family. Her father served in the Indian Army.
She completed her schooling at Army Public School and later pursued her interest in media and entertainment.[1]

Rhea started her career in 2009 by participating in MTV India's reality show TVS Scooty Teen Diva, where she finished as the runner-up.
After the show, she auditioned for MTV and was selected as a VJ. She hosted several popular MTV shows such as Pepsi MTV Wassup, Gone in 60 Seconds, and TicTac College Beat. She also hosted shows like Fantastic Five.
