Jacques Bermon Webster II (born April 30, 1991), professionally known as Travis Scott, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for his distinctive musical style blending hip-hop, ambient, and lo-fi elements. Scott has achieved multiple number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and over one hundred charting songs.

He has received numerous accolades, including a Latin Grammy Award, Billboard Music Award, MTV Video Music Award, and several BET Hip Hop Awards, along with multiple Grammy nominations. His stage name is inspired by his favorite uncle and rapper Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi).[1]

Early life

Jacques Bermon Webster II was born in Houston, Texas. He spent his early childhood living with his grandmother in South Park, a high-crime neighborhood that influenced his perspective and music.[2]

He later moved to Missouri City, Texas, where he lived with his parents. His father was a musician and entrepreneur, while his grandfather was a jazz composer. Scott attended Elkins High School and later enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio but dropped out to pursue music full-time.

Career

Early career (2012–2014)

In 2012, Scott signed with Epic Records and Kanye West's GOOD Music as a producer. In 2013, he released his debut mixtape Owl Pharaoh, followed by Days Before Rodeo (2014), gaining early recognition.[3]

Breakthrough (2015–2017)

Scott's debut studio album Rodeo (2015) was a commercial success, featuring hits like "Antidote". His second album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), became his first number-one album.

In 2017, he collaborated with Quavo as the duo Huncho Jack, releasing a joint album.[4]

Mainstream success (2018–present)

His third album, Astroworld (2018), received critical acclaim and included the hit "Sicko Mode", his first number-one single.

Scott founded Cactus Jack Records in 2017, signing artists such as Don Toliver and Sheck Wes, and expanding into events like CactusCon.[5]

Personal life

Scott began dating media personality and businesswoman Kylie Jenner in April 2017. In February 2018, Jenner gave birth to their daughter.

They separated in September 2019 but later reunited during the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2021, Jenner announced their second child, and their son was born in February 2022.

The couple separated again in January 2023.
