Shraddha Kapoor was born on 3 March 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is the younger child of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure. She belongs to a family with strong roots in the Indian film industry and is the niece of actress Padmini Kolhapure.[1]

She completed her schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu, Mumbai, and later attended the American School of Bombay. Shraddha enrolled at Boston University to study psychology but dropped out to pursue a full-time acting career.
