Radha Yadav (born 21 April 2000) is an Indian women’s international cricketer who plays as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Known for her accuracy, control, and calm temperament, she has been a regular member of India’s limited-overs squads and a key performer in domestic and franchise cricket.

Early Life and Background

Radha Yadav was born in Mumbai to a family originally from Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. She grew up in modest circumstances in Kandivli (West), where her father ran a vegetable stall. Born prematurely, Radha overcame early health challenges before discovering her passion for cricket.[1]

She began playing cricket in her housing society with boys, where she was noticed by coach Prafful Naik. Under his guidance, she began formal training at the age of 12. To support her cricketing development, she changed schools and balanced academics with rigorous practice sessions, gradually rising through age-group cricket in Mumbai.[2]

Domestic Career

Radha Yadav made her senior domestic debut for Mumbai on 10 January 2015 at the age of 14. She later moved to Baroda, where she established herself as a frontline spinner and became a regular feature in West Zone squads.

Her consistent domestic performances across formats earned her selection for national camps and eventually a call-up to the Indian team. She has also represented teams such as Supernovas, Velocity, and Delhi Capitals in elite domestic competitions.[3]

International Career

Radha made her Women’s Twenty20 International debut for India on 13 February 2018 against South Africa. Later that year, she was selected for the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20, where she emerged as India’s joint-highest wicket-taker with eight wickets in five matches.[4]

She made her One Day International debut on 14 March 2021 against South Africa and was also included in India’s Test squad for the 2021 England tour. Over the years, she has featured in major tournaments including the ICC Women’s T20 World Cups, Commonwealth Games, and multi-nation series.[5]

By 2025, Radha had played over 50 WT20Is, taking more than 60 wickets and establishing herself as one of India’s most reliable spin options in limited-overs cricket.

Franchise and League Cricket

Radha Yadav has been a prominent figure in franchise cricket. She has represented Supernovas and Velocity in the Women’s T20 Challenge and plays for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League. Internationally, she has also featured for Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League, gaining valuable experience in overseas conditions.

Playing Style

Radha is known for her tight line and length, ability to bowl in powerplay overs, and effectiveness in controlling the run rate during middle overs. As a left-arm spinner, she brings variety and balance to India’s bowling attack.

Impact and Outlook

Radha Yadav’s rise from a small Mumbai locality to international cricket has made her a role model for young aspirants from underprivileged backgrounds. With her experience across formats and leagues, she continues to be viewed as an important part of India’s long-term plans in white-ball cricket.
