Janhvi Kapoor (born 6 March 1997) is an Indian actress and model who works in Hindi cinema. The elder daughter of film producer Boney Kapoor and legendary actress Sridevi, she made her acting debut with Dhadak (2018). Over the years, she has become known for her portrayals in biopics, comedies, and survival dramas, with acclaimed performances in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Mili, and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Kapoor was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into the prominent Kapoor film family. She is the elder sister of Khushi Kapoor. She completed her schooling at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School and later studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. As the daughter of Sridevi, she has often cited her late mother as her inspiration in choosing a career in cinema.[3]

Debut and Initial Work (2018–2019)

Janhvi made her screen debut opposite Ishaan Khatter in Dhadak (2018), the Hindi remake of the Marathi hit Sairat. The film was commercially successful and earned her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.

In 2019, she appeared in the Netflix anthology Ghost Stories, in Zoya Akhtar’s segment, where her performance received strong reviews.[4]

Breakthrough and Streaming Success (2020–2022)

In 2020, Kapoor starred in the Netflix-released biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, portraying the Indian Air Force pilot. Her nuanced performance was widely praised and earned nominations at Filmfare and IIFA.

She followed this with the horror-comedy Roohi (2021) and the Disney+ Hotstar release Good Luck Jerry (2022), where her comic timing and natural presence were noted.
