The family emigrated to the United States in 1979. Brin grew up in Maryland, where his father became a mathematics professor and his mother worked as a researcher at NASA.[2]

He attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School and later enrolled at the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics with honors. He then pursued graduate studies at Stanford University, where he received a Master’s degree in computer science.

Career

Founding Google

At Stanford University, Brin met Larry Page. Together, they developed a research project that became the foundation for Google. Their search engine used a new algorithm called PageRank, which ranked web pages based on relevance and links.[3]

In 1998, they officially founded Google in a garage in Menlo Park, California. The company quickly grew into one of the most influential technology companies in the world.

Brin later became the president of Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company. He stepped down from the role in 2019 but continues to influence the company’s direction.[4]

In 2023, he returned to contribute to artificial intelligence research at Alphabet, focusing on advanced technologies.

Other Ventures

Sergey Brin has invested in several innovative projects, including space tourism company Space Adventures and airship development through LTA Research.

He has also supported research in science, healthcare, and emerging technologies.

Personal Life

Brin was raised in a Jewish family but is not religious. He married Anne Wojcicki in 2007, and the couple later divorced in 2015. He then married Nicole Shanahan in 2018, and they separated in 2021.

He has children from his marriages and is known for maintaining a relatively private personal life.[5]
