Early life and education

Sonam Bajwa was born on 16 August 1989 in Nainital (then in Uttar Pradesh, now Uttarakhand) into a Punjabi Sikh family. She completed her schooling locally and later graduated from the University of Delhi. Before pursuing acting full-time she worked briefly as an air hostess and also participated in beauty and modelling assignments, including the Femina Miss India pageant in 2012.

Debut and rise in Punjabi cinema (2013–2018)

Sonam made her film debut in the Punjabi comedy Best of Luck (2013). She gained early acclaim with Punjab 1984 (2014) and continued to build her reputation with varied roles in films such as Kappal (Tamil) and multiple regional projects. Between 2016 and 2019 she appeared in a string of successful Punjabi films including Sardaar Ji 2, Nikka Zaildar, Manje Bistre, and Ardab Mutiyaran, the latter earning her awards recognition.[2]

Across 2019–2022 Sonam balanced commercial entertainers and performance-driven roles—appearing in Bala (Hindi cameo), Street Dancer 3D, Puaada, and Honsla Rakh.
