Farhan Akhtar (born 9 January 1974) is an Indian actor, director, producer, singer, and lyricist who works primarily in Hindi cinema. Known for his versatility, he has contributed to the film industry both behind and in front of the camera. He co-founded the production company Excel Entertainment and has received National and Filmfare Awards for his work.

Early Life and Education

Farhan Akhtar was born in Mumbai to screenwriter Javed Akhtar and actress Honey Irani. He comes from a prominent film family. His sister, Zoya Akhtar, is a director and screenwriter.[1]

He completed his schooling at Maneckji Cooper School in Mumbai and later attended H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. From an early age, he was exposed to cinema and storytelling, which influenced his career path.

Farhan Akhtar began his journey in the film industry as an assistant director at a young age. In 1999, he co-founded Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani.[2]
